One of the cool things with Oracle VM is that Oracle offers many templates you can download from edelivery.oracle.com and import into your repository with Oracle VM Manager (OVMM). Well, since I did the same mistake that you did, that is, not reading the entire README file, I confused templates with assemblies.

I struggled to connect to the console of a newly created VM. The VM was created using Oracle VM Manager (OVMM) and despite efforts to install the required packages I could not use the console button in the Manager interface.
Just a simple trick to import ISO files to the repository using Oracle VM Manager (OVMM). The import function supports imports through protocols http, https and ftp. If you want to do this in the supported way you can use a simple web server to serve the ISO files for you.
Sometimes download from Oracle Technology Network (OTN) is really slow, but it may not be Oracle’s fault. Oracle is using Akamai Technologies to distribute the software. You can see this if you do an nslookup on download.oracle.com and see it resolves (finally) to a host under akamai.net.
This is not intended as a complete book review, but a warm recommendation of a book I’ve found very useful the last couple of months. That is, highly recommended if you are working with RAC or going to start with a RAC project soon.
Version 4.2 of VirtualBox was released two days ago (so far for Linux only). Download it from here: https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads
This is more a note to myself… Installing Oracle on Linux has become much easier with a package that prepares the OS before installation of the Oracle Server software. In previous versions the rpm package used to be called oracle-validated, but for 11gR2 on OEL6 it is called oracle-rdbms-server-11gR2-preinstall.
This is a simple one, a reminder till next time I forget this, since stuff encountered after a Google-search led me astray…
